s100 is a cluster of machines and individuals who found themselves to be the perfect techno live band. the individuals behind s100 have previously released a number of techno, dub, and electronica records on various labels. s100 is making music that is narrowing the gap between the past and the future, marrying the digital and the analogue, along with a strong emphasis on being performed live with machines. 2011 will definitely be the breaktrough year of s100, with their debut ep on stockholm ltd, their intern track on stockholm ltd 022 and their remix of par grindviks sinister track. their music has already been picked up by some of the techno scenes major players, like ben klock, samuel l session, pfirter, dustin zahn, audio injection, dimi angelis, tommy four seven and perc. on their self titled debut ep, we get to know s100s music a bit more. the music ranges from the powerful and raw discharge to the more deep driven krowork before diving into the ambient patterns/ soundscapes of repel. as the record rounds up, tom dicicco adds his very own stripped down dub formula in his rework of krowork. tom recently made his first appearance on the label with the track night erosion

hiding behind their three character website is a belgian duo called goldffinch whose steep vision of dancefloor techno marries loveable little phrases of awkward computer conversation with the kind of kick drums that will rattle the windows of your neighbours house when your soundsystem is tweaked perfectly. goldffinch may well be a duo bent on keeping things simple but when the end result, which is built out of such minimal layers, is so arresting, there’s no need to change the formula. not one bit.

andreas reihse is well known since 1994 in his role as musician with kreidler. sometimes he releases club music, for example using his alias april or with detlef weinrich (kreidler, tolouse lowtrax) as binford on labels like italic, onitor or smoothrooms. he also composed soundtracks for artist movies and installations (rosemarie trockel, maximilian zentz zlomowitz, thea djordjadze, andreas gursky, frances scholz/mark von schlegell, among others). romantic comedy is music for dark clubs, for places without much light and oxygen – its driving, percussive dance music. a comedy in six acts: from l.a. to düsseldorf and back. music and lyrics? - pop goes my heart! - of course its a romantic comedy, a bittersweet romance full of memories and a bit of sorrow. >der lange weg nach düsseldorf< the title reminds of mittagspauses der lange weg nach derendorf, derendorf, the district of düsseldorf where andreas reihse and stefan betke / pole in the late 80ies shared a rehearsal room. langeweg also was the adress of the studio of klaus dinger in zeeland. the titles of the other pieces refer to dubious characters that show that the trip on the west coast makes stops in manchester, milano, brussels and london without forgetting charlottenburg and williamsburg. places that hold up against oblivion and reinvent themselves. your club needs you. the cover was designed by artist thea djordjadze

while dominik eulberg utilized the broader canvas of the album format to develop complex sophisticated compositions, rich of melodies and of intricate details, it was time to boil it down to a bit of a club formula. stephan bodzin, a favourite producer of eulberg, has chosen the clubbiest track of the album >teddy tausendtod< and transformed it into a after hour monster. installing a feeling of electricity with sounds of the original that hover on a layer of huge bass and powerful arrhythmic kicks... it has resulted into a hypnotic anthem.

next beatwax is coming from franconian tom shopper ? this time he worked together with alma gold, simple and max volkholz. in addition to that there are 2 fantastic remixes from brise records head helmut dubnitzky (8 bit, yellow tail, microfon) and great stuff artist joseph disco (stil vor talent, style rockets).

full drumming, a grumpy chord sound embraced from a dark, rebelling melody line like out of the old rave days and the demanding voice from the massive track internal, which calls the >soldier< with his name. remixer rolf mulder mills with darkly digging sequences and creaky acid effects sharp edged points in the sole of the dancers, so that these also find enough hold on the slant melodies. >skydive< makes in the matter of grooving also thick cheeks. the track rumbles more and more elegantly than stoic through the space and pulls from the propulsive combination of the vocal-hookline and the harmony changes a well-arranged serving of pop flair which cuts the darkness of the night with a flashing blade from light. toureaus impact version of >skydive< serves 8-bit like clicking in the treble area, swears to the rhythmical spirit of the good old days and asks him for a bouncing dance on the floors in the here and now.

terry lee brown junior is back on plastic city with his new 3 track single >baltimore<. here we have two great remixes and one original dub version. on the a-side is the pumping bas amro remix. its a little bit techy and would rock every dancefloor at the maintime! the b1-track is the aki bergen remix and it sounds more minimal than the other ones. also we have here more elements from the original included! for the last is the b2-track. its the dub mix of the original with less vocals and a straighter beat programming. the productions are very accurate, the interplay of moods, sounds and emotions is functional and sexy, very concidered and perfectly restaged. terry lee brown junior make the next step right back into the clubs. perfect!

bit of a special release we have here with a new collaborative project from belgian duo fcl joining the omnipresent danilo of motor city drum ensemble for some seriously raw, stripped back and undiluted house music. most people will know san soda and red ds fcl project following the brilliant lets go seven release on their we play house label last year as well as their remix of proof for trunkfunk. mcde has become one of the biggest and most revered names in house in recent years having produced the amazing raw cuts series as well as compiling the dj kicks lp which spawned the mcde single l.o.v.e.

2nd release of leo zero on lets get lost. his remix of the florence and the machine was highly acclaimed. new leo zero remix for super talented teenaged rock band >bombay bicycle club< is simply brilliant stuff.this is good way of pop stuff. when i listened this remix,i thought its like a disco version of style council. on b side, rune lindbaek edit is bit alternative for djs. dont miss this great remix tracks.

after a handful of smashing remixes and compilation features on nang records, lusty zanzibar returns to the fold with a cracking solo effort named the >the feeling ep.< title track is a spaced out exercise in immersive square-wave programming, reminiscent of the pre-internet computer gaming age when colours were 8-bit and vivid, and soundtracks were hyper-colour opuses. the complex synth work is underpinned by a driving beat with ethereal vocal wisps and crystalline pads. nice. the first of three remixes for >the feeling< comes from ilya santana, with his >celestial version<, and celestial it is indeed! a picturesque scene is set, the rhythm is wound back and a super laid back vibe allows the vocal line >remember how you are feeling< to sit more purposefully in the mix, alongside the tip-toeing bass line and often euphoric chords. up next comes the max essa dub version, introducing some arp-synth subtleties, replacing the main vocal hook to great effect. to finish we have a mix from fear of theydon who brings a touch of arpeggiated femininity and tasteful woodblock percussion to the table. its a fulfilling yet sultry up-beat journey.

we are back with a special release from einmusik. this time samuel kindermann is telling you something about those real summer-nights, those few mysterious and magic hours filled with sounds, colorful lights and beauty all around. -nyx- is one of the songs on the -oceans bottom pt.2- ep. it comes up with an endless dreamy hook, the slappy rhythm is gracious and the groove is full and checkless. bit by bit the headstrong sounds direct you deeper into this track and you re hands will be up at least. backside we find -oneiros- it s a very coltish track with a haunting melody. it s humming in your ears, that s what it is made for. such an easiness coming up while hearing this song, you ll get a bit gushy and your feet won t be able to stop. both songs on are preparing the way into a unique sound-universe which will be opened on einmusiks new album coming up in autumn.

today, the pit lane is decorated with red carpet and golden leaf for two exceptional talents: from the black forest patrick chardronnet for the gui boratto (bra)-team, and from the westerwald dominik eulberg (ger) for the extrawelt-team. both drivers are concentrated. they are wearing shimmering overalls and golden helmets. they get into their softly purring apparillos. two pairs of gloves at the steering wheel. the heat is flimmering over the hot asphalt. during the race, the gui boratto / patrick chardronnet-team focuses on deep bass lines and a constant improvement in performance with a slightly shifted ideal line, and only one pit stop. in three words: mighty, majestic, thunderous! team-extrawelt acts a bit more flexible. dominik eulberg either puts on the handbrake or drives at full speed. he is fast, he is flexible, and his elegant turns make the audience go wild. but in the end, both sportsmen share the champagne, and the after-show party will go down in the history of the tunig series. ready, steady, go!

out of an 8.8 earthquake, riots and severe illness comes one of the most joyful records of the year. brian gibbs aka echo park has had a colourful life to say the least, living and making music in l.a., tokyo, madrid, mexico city and now santiago, chile where he lives with his young family. previously a producer of dark hip hop and dub, a series of disasters made him confront mortality and decide it was time to make the music that is closest to his heart: luscious, sunshine-infused electro-funk full of laid back attitude and real songs. skream has always been a lover of disco, boogie and electro – as anyone who has heard one of his specialist sets or his slick n sleazy remix of chromeo will know. it took just one hearing of brians first echo park tracks via a mutual friend to snap them up for disfigured dubz. in fact he has chosen echo park for the first full album on the label… but first comes this killer single, a shmoooove bit of vocoder funk that sets the tone for echo parks twin obsessions with technology and romance. bundled with it are a gutbusting ravemonster of a rework by 12th planet & flinch that somehow still keeps the soul of the track intact, and jon convex taking it way underground with a deeper-than-deep analogue techno version. there is something for everyone here and this is just the beginning.

nice price deal !!! the 8th release on mindtrick records will be by the greek producer and sound engineer mobthrow. mobthrow just released his full length self titled debut album on adnoiseam and is now ready for his first 12inch release which will come out on the 5th of september. the 12inch brings a somewhat deeper feeling to the sound of mobthrow which is starting out with pitchblack on the a side. the 2nd track is flashback and is based in rewind mirror techniques (intro sample remains the same if you rewind it). heavy beats at 140 bpm. it is a story between dreams and reality, as the storyteller (mulholand drive sample) describes.
enter dubcore sets the tempo a little bit higher, balancing between dubstep/dnb. techy production approach (808.909 & tb303 used), born to spin in underground clubs at rush hour. also on the b side you will find a remix of pitch black which is made by german sound designer and composer hecq which kranks up the sound completely and make you slit your own wrists while listening to it!
overall this record is an excellent prove that dark sounding music can be very danceable!

after his recent excursion remixing groove armada, morton sorenson returns to the fold with a stunning little release for tirk titled >the burn down ep.< for those that dont know, morten is in his early twenties and hails from a small fishing village in rural norway. his dad probably spent many years in new york and the records that he brought back encouraged a love of american house and disco on the impressionable morton. >burn down (original)’ is an exercise in uplifting, stripped back house music. less is more here, the vibe stays rich and never loosens its grip. the rhythms skip on top of the beat and the vocal interludes make for a real vivid experience. the lpz remix on the other hand sits back a bit, the rhythms are solidly swung and the vocal appears more affluently in the mix. it feels smooth and definitely cool. to top the package, were served up some chi-town flavours with <owe that 2 u.< sustained strings and a slo-mo shuffle builds, then peels away to a hollowed out organ breakdown. a hauntingly affected vocal and clever edits ensue then drop back into the beat, articulated now by the clack of a tough stacatto synth. in our eyes, a brilliant end to a fantastic package

the mysterious robotalco serves up four deep house cuts for nycs on the prowl. robos road kicks things off with the right amount of hissing strings and slow drifting vibes that win its a1 spot. next up we have it gets to me, which strips things back a bit with pulsing synths, sparse congas, and perfectly placed vocal snippets. on the b-side we get moon robot, it keeps things rolling with its stompy feel and more of whats becoming robotalcos signiture swirling synth pad sound. rounding up the release for b2 is zuk zuk, with its quirky low slung groove that develops into a latin percussive gem...its really a superb way to round off robotalcos otp debut. well done.

it has not gone by unnoticed that, over the last five years, the rhein main area has become a decisive nucleus for innovative, powerful and modern house music. one who is not entirely innocent of this is mannheim-based dj, producer and label head nick curly, whose imprints 8 bit and cécille records are guarantees for standard-setting electronic dance music. since his cocoon debut pujante (2009) and especially since the party animals cocoon ibiza summer mix 2010, he is a frequent and welcome guest at cocoons. the three tracks of his sun city ep are an impressive proof for curlys maturation process: with a clear orientation towards the needs of the dancefloor, he exploits the sound potential of compressed house textures. the title track captivates the listener with a subsonically perfected bass line and a discoid hi-nrg modulation, forming a deluxe prime time anthem, whereas the dense and dub-referring deepness of green baize is enchanting just everybody, and, for the final, liberos rich percussive rhythms are strongly stressing the pelvic thrust. so, virtually nothing can go wrong with nicks world tour between ibiza, moscow, manchester and nyc!

englishman matthew styles is a special one. firmly schooled in the history of dance music as a dj, his productions usually carry a uniqueness that cannot be located in time and space - a little bit like what courtney melody tried to put into words with his >modern girl<. styles debut for running back is his first solo release in a long while and ticks all the niceness boxes: straight up house with >dont call me again< that works itself up in a frenzy, the rough and ready >scale< performance without a ruffle, >polee< and its irresistible melody and last but not least the percussive and bass-heavy lunacy of >galaxy 21<. yee-haw! styles for days !!

back for his third release on hometown label thirtyonetwenty comes captain funktastic himself, william kouam djoko! if you have see him perform you know that this guy has the funk oozing through through his veins like a predatory viper going for the kill.
>cant lose my rhythm< takes you on a jazzy dreamscape, with of course all vocals are done by william himself which has become one of his signature trademarks.

(fill in a word of your choice that begins with inter) dikso006 b1 - thee role model of deepslowmonudiscoeditchicagoacidwhateverhouse. after finishing two longplayers earlier this year he spent some time to refine daniels track. the original shines through but everything is a little bit deeper, darker, stronger. its still a walk in the park, but imagine the voices of owls and some undefinable dark shadows instead of wine, women & song. dikso006 b2 - we still have his brilliant ep for permanet vacation in our ears and synapses and now he is here with a stirring remix for prime times and big rooms. the boys from dikso borrowed pional, probably spains best kept secret, from john talabots hivern discs camp who delivers a real monster of a track. john, they have promised to give him back, later... someday... somehow

a big release from the om records team. this latest cut from miguel migs really is seriously dope. migs dub mix does exactly what you want and expect providing musical house music at its finest. throw into the equation the fact that all three of the remixes are done by artists that serve up serious heavyweight tracks and you get a four track piece of prime vinyl. soul clap (possibley the biggest success story of 2011 along side seth troxler) produce a finely tweaked and expertly executed remix which lives up to every bit of the soul clap hype. aki bergen from neurotraxx fame also smashes it on the remix front gracing us with a deep grooving interpretation to nod our heads in the clubs. finally, hardsoul (if you don’t know who they are where have you been hiding) do what they do best, vocal house gold. a quality release not to be missed

this is first single cut from upcoming first collaboration album of minilogue & koss they have recorded at minilogue studio in malmo, sweden in the end of last year. then they brought back the recorded parts to own studio and put the each touch to the songs ... original of a side is minilogue manner hypnotic tech house but koss added his warm sounds. the result is a simple and timeless tune. on b side, new york deep houser dj qu remix is little bit more danceable than original. its for the fans of underground quality to lawrence to dj koze. the album is coming this autumn.

mikael stavöstrand (lick my deck, clink, highgrade) spent a few days in berlin recently, so why not get him over to the we are hq and work on some tracks with agaric, right? the boys first track is a deeper bass driven techno track interchanging grooves and eerie strings and percussion arrangements whereas the flipside on this limited 10 inch goes more funky and presents a surprising vocal bit where vealchop out of los angeles asks himself why certain things went the way they did! already tried and tested to excited crowds in clubs like 1001 london, rex paris and tresor berlin...

tommy walker 3 has been hiding for a while now, after releasing a slew of material in 2008 (including a release on the sadly defunct dissident). now hes back with >dance music clubbing<, and with a name like this youd probably expect this ep to either be a bit off the wall, or unintentionally awful. we are glad to say it fits into the former category, offering an ep of colourful elastic space disco mixed with a more classic vibe. opener >disconnected< sets the tone with its 80s, verging on hair metal guitar riffs. >mwj1< impresses with its almost seinfeld-esque slap bass, and synth piano stabs while >errational< is characterised by its wonky synth melody and spaced-out laser gurgles. finally >v brains< melds driving live bass with huge slabs of cosmic squelch. if you like your disco fierce, this will definitely be worth a look

downwards sidestep expectations again with this glorious limited 10inch vinyl release from tropic of cancer. two beautifully dark compositions that remind slightly of angelo badalamenti in >twin peaks< mode, or maybe reservoir dogs, if it had been filmed with a huge cavern as the soundstage. processed guitar and drones wash swampily over a simple drumbox beat, as eerie snatches of melody float in and out. as badalamenti himself said of his own work, >my (musical) world is a little bit dark... a little bit off-center. i think of it as tragically beautiful. that is how i would describe what i love best: tragically beautiful.< seems to sum this release up quite nicely too...

it took a while but we finally got this great remix ep together from catz n dogz escape from zoo album. tanner ross flexes his e-funk biceps and shows us that just a little bit goes a long way with huge bass and sparse vox. this remix goes against the grain the right way, showing restraint and power at the same time. the main man of detroit, carl craig also delivers a sparse and beautiful mix, 1st giving us a lesson in how to properly tweak the space echo and then bringing it back with classic strings and subs. both mixes are getting major support from all across the globe from sebo k to troy pierce to ewan pearson to martyn to l-vis 1990 to james zabiela - overall probably the best feedback we had in a while on a record to be honest.. all great for our kids at the detroit youth foundation where the mothership label donates 100% of profits! also, special thanks to matt colton at air studios, london for donating a mastering session for free to cut this record and support our school.

classic disco cuts

seiji – the much-lauded and respected producer from west london – returns with the penultimate part of his 2010-launched seiji series. having successfully explored a career path thats established him as a founding member of broken beat originators bugz in the attic, a key artist for the seminal jungle/d n b label reinforced, a downbeat solo artist for sonar kollectiv and a producer and co-writer for the brilliant roisin murphy, in 2011 seiji is a man focused squarely on the dancefloor. the seiji series is just one part of that with seiji stripping things right back, identifying each release with a simple number and putting all his energy into creating music that he truly believes in. a merging of sounds and influences that have always been with him, but have never sounded so right – encapsulating everything thats exciting about the underground uk scene at the moment. as with the previous two releases, seiji 4 is a double a-side focusing on the current uk house sound, a bit soulful, a bit funky a bit jacking, with two solid heavy grooves that are going to work on any house dance floor. no other has a really soulful vocal sample, a rolling reese bass riff and percussive uk house beats. easy is more of an infectious skippy house groove with a chunky bass hook and deep techno pads

when talking about the music of com truise (one of the many pseudonyms of new jersey designer/musician seth haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so lets get that out of the way. yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. but they’re also remarkably weird--stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. after his well-received cyanide sisters ep, a grip of remixes for artists like twin shadow, neon indian, and, uh, daft punk, and a few floating mp3s, truises first lp, galactic melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer.

and are a duo living in manchester, uk. they have released a split 12 inch with 16 bit on mindset in 2009, the second 12 inch on black sun records that came out recently and a couple of 12 inches on horizontal ground. they sent me various batches of tracks spanning a wide range of sounds, all rooted in techno to my ears but spanning different tempos, emphasis and mood. i selected three of those tracks to appear on this ep, ranging between 130 and 135 bpm. we are happy to have a follow up of m.in on trapez ltd in collaboration with his fellow mate jonas fahz. the duo has released together already under their pseudonym of mucky pups on the trapez ltd 100 anniversary compilation in may. their a-side welcome to my house features again a jack track, produced and written this time by a whole team including: m.in, jonas fahz, peter eilmers and featuring nick maurer on vocals. bringing together old school and new school this was also the idea with m.in s debut a-side track teach me house . welcome to my house instead has more of a live jammed attitude to it... in this respect it is meaner, rougher and tougher as the predecessor! the alienated and twisted voice of nick maurer adds a psychedelic feeling that keeps you making funny faces to yourself . delgardo has been a long time favourite of m.in and jonas, it is an approved dance floor track, and indeed a slow moving... but funky rocker. fuelled by vocal snippets and fx sounds... the beat goes non stop beat non stop ! elephant blues is the favourite track of m.in and a bit of a mad and deadpan track. fitting very well to the actual chart breaking tunes that spread like a virus in the underground scene, this could be the most modern of the three tracks. equipped with a strong drive, whipping its percussion line into oblivion it is a sexy track. the original 3 tracks are Êsupported by alex piccini with a cool post detroit remix of welcome to my house and well as heartik who has speeded up elephant blues turning it into a cool techno- rush of a track.

bite sized beats vol. 4 brings back the kentucky fried duo corduroy mavericks to partake in a deep fried fandango. some jams are fantastically tasty on their own just like a lot of your favorite foods, but sometimes you take that extra step by battering it, and throwing it in the deep frier till its a nice golden brown. that is just what c-mavs did to a stevie wonder classic on their crispy bit >funky jazz<. they fried that bitch up just right and shot the flavor units through the roof just like the miracle of a deep friend twinkee.

the next coup by sirion records is from none other than one of the founding fathers, fedja haueter aka feodor and his fellows alex torriglia aka mo-tek and beni dossenbach aka balance. the trio, better known as vol-tek, has played a key role since the very beginnings of sirion s musical outpours and was represented in sr001 with a remix. numerous remixes and their own release sr005 - vol-tek - male & female are further to be mentioned. a part from sirion records the trio was represented at friends labels such as cristian paduraru or samy freshs augenringe records. but their next big thing is yet to come, as the threesome has been finishing tracks throughout the past year and surely need to be reckoned with in the future. the tracks after dark and conciliator are both rather deep, playful tech-house gimmicks, enriched with a bit of progressive.

self defence returns in full effect with new yorks one and only dj dukes (of sex trax / power music fame) >summer madness ep<. dj duke had retired from the music front for a while, after he had about 300 records emerged after his >blow your whistle< blew up in 1993 and during the past few years. with releases dating back to 1990, you know the mans got skills aplenty, and they once again get a killer workout on this ep. each of the tracks shows a different side of his music-making and rewards ones time and attention, demonstrating that duke plays in his own league of house music. a bit of curry flavour seeps into >summer blast< by way of a sinuous string melody, adding an exotic tinge to the breeziness that otherwise infuses the cut. a funky, vibes-like motif and analog synth streams bring additional colour to the scene while a crisp, pumping groove locks everything solidly in place

ranging from melodic to a bit heavier work this tevo album is an ideal little update to your house collection. lots of chicago and a well sized portion of acid in it!

supported and played by: seth troxler, anja schneider, adultnapper, anthony collins, audiofly, daria, deetron, franck roger, julien chaptal, kabale & liebe, lee jones, marco resmann, matt star, silicone soul, stacey pullen, .... the yangango ep shows you two faces. on the a side with the deeper cut >too big to fail< and on the b side through the bassline driven and euphoric title track >yangango<. both tunes are quite complex and geniusly arranged and at one point you can fly away on their crazy dynamic. the digitaline edit of >too big to fail< puts a new groove in front, takes it a bit more on the tooly side and highlights the fantastic synth work of the original mix.

the 40 thieves turn up in lengs back garden for a bit of late night skulduggery. kicking off side-a with >backward love<, a deep wobble of dub guitars, weird out fx, large 80s synth lines and lovely throbbing bass, more than enough to get people freaky. on side-b, >crystal mountain thunder< has a genius intro of ambient electronic atmosphere, which gives way to another slug of late-night dub wonkiness, with massive guitars and a hefty drumkit. as expected, a meaty joint of late night disco, for the murkier end of the dance-floor. we hear an album is coming up and if it matches the quality of this release then weve got a veritable treat on its way. check!
